How to Effectively and Ethically Work with Survivors to Increase Participation

This workshop will discuss typical trauma reactions from victims of domestic violence that may affect their ability and/or willingness to participate in the processes of our agencies/services. We will discuss the Stages of Change model and how it informs our approach with clients in different stages. We will also acknowledge different ethical considerations within each stage. The Attendees will leave with dos and don’ts to more effectively communicate with victims of domestic violence. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and practice effective phrasing and approaches using hypothetical ethical scenarios.
