SUMMARY:Left Hand Meet Right Hand: Coordinating an Effective Response to Stalking Cases
DESCRIPTION:  \nDescription: Stalking is a prevalent\, dangerous\, and often misunderstood crime. Keeping victims safe and holding offenders accountable requires that diverse professionals – including (but not limited to) victim advocates\, law enforcement\, prosecutors\, educators\, and others – view their work through a “stalking lens\,” take pro-active steps to incorporate a stalking response into their roles\, and work together in multidisciplinary teams. This full-day session explores the dynamics of stalking\, focusing on the highly contextual nature of the crime by discussing common tactics used by perpetrators\, stalking’s co-occurrence with domestic and sexual violence\, the use of risk assessments in stalking cases\, the use of technology to stalk\, investigation strategies\, as well as tools to plan for victim safety and increase offender accountability. Multidisciplinary teams are encouraged to attend together. \nSpeaker(s): \nJennifer Landhuis\nDirector\nStalking Prevention Awareness & Resource Center (SPARC) \nDenise Jones\nSergeant\, Intimate Partner Violence Unit\nClark County Sheriffs Office \nOrganization: SPARC \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Genesis Lunch & Learn: Addressing the Sexual & Reproductive Health Needs of Survivors of Intimate Partner Violence
DESCRIPTION:  \nBring your lunch & join us every 4th Thursday \nDescription: This presentation will share findings from a comprehensive research study aimed at exploring the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs of survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV). The study involved direct input from IPV survivors and staff from agencies in Dallas and Tarrant Counties serving these individuals. The goal was to better understand survivors’ SRH needs and develop a practical framework for nonprofits to screen and assess SRH needs effectively within their facilities. Participants will examine the link between IPV and negative SRH outcomes and identify perceived barriers in screening and assessing SRH needs. Participants will learn how IPV survivors prioritize their SRH needs and what recommendations IPV survivors have for improving services. Dr. Grace will also outline key components of a phased SRH framework for IPV agencies. \nSpeaker:\n \nJessica Grace\, PhD\, LMSW\nAssistant Professor\nDepartment of Social Work University of North Texas \nCEUs: 1.5 for LPC\, SW\, LMFT \nRegister Here
